Cuba
10.0 Superb
The capital of Cuba, the largest island of the Caribbean, is the legendary Havana. The incredible cultural and historical heritage makes this multicolor country one of the most popular destinations of the Caribbean. Cuba is rich in cultural and historical sights, full of architectural delights that will enchant visitors of any age. Those who visit Cuba take a time travel, as they will be able to witness the ancient sugar barons’ richness still present in the architecture. The 1950’s American mob and the 1970’s retro provide a unique atmosphere. Cuba houses several UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Its mountains, rivers and beautiful beaches first encharmed Columbus who wrote in his diary about Cuba: “This is the most beautiful land that human eyes have ever seen”. As we will explore by foot the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, we will be challenged to take amazing pictures of the beautiful buildings, the vibrant culture and the everyday life of the Cubans we meet along the way; meanwhile we can learn from local architecture experts.
Havana, Cuba’s cultural epicenter, one of the most interesting places to discover for those, interested in architecture. With a history of Spanish, French, American and Russian influence, Cuba has a great variety from colonial Spanish buildings to Art Deco and post revolution architecture, providing remarkable insight into the changing history of the island. There is no other place where you can find these all together! You don’t have to walk from one area to another; many times you can find these diferent stlyes just right next to each other! Havana Vieja, the old town of Havana, the UNESCO World Heritage Site doubtfully is the core colonial site, a testament to the gold and riches that trafficked through Havana hundred years ago, when Havana was the most important city of the Spanish Empire. This tour is licensable for architecture professionals, educators or students, but also for those who are looking for P2P experience.
